The Disposable (C-Span spells it "Disposal") Heroes Of Hiphoprisy perform at the Save our Cities! Save our Children! rally in Washington D.C. on May 16, 1992. Songs include California Uber Alles and Hypocrisy Is the Greatest Luxury. The U.S. Conference of Mayors and National League of Cities sponsored the rally on the National Mall. From my VHS collection, recorded from C-Span via Armstrong Cable in Medina, Ohio. The Disposable Heroes of Hiphoprisy were an American hip-hop musical ensemble, active during the early 1990s. The band was formed in 1990 by Michael Franti (vocals, production, misc. instruments) and Rono Tse (drums, percussion, programming), who had worked together in The Beatnigs. They released two albums, the critically acclaimed Hypocrisy Is the Greatest Luxury in 1992, and Spare Ass Annie and Other Tales (with William S. Burroughs) in 1993. Michael Franti (born April 21, 1966) is an American singer, songwriter, musician, poet, activist, documentarian, and rapper. He is known for his participation in many musical projects which mostly have a political and social emphasis, including the Beatnigs and the Disposable Heroes of Hiphoprisy. He is the creator and lead vocalist of Michael Franti & Spearhead, a band which blends hip hop with a variety of other styles including funk, reggae, jazz, folk, and rock. He is an outspoken supporter for a wide spectrum of peace and social justice issues.
