Too often, decisions about children and youth are made by adults without understanding their lives, and without their involvement. The new UNICEF Canada Community Child and Youth Well-being Survey gives young people and their communities a powerful tool to understand what life is like under age 19, take collaborative action and monitor progress toward better and more equitable well-being. Monitoring the state of children and youth has never been more important, as they continue to experience the impacts of the pandemic and a “polycrisis” of financial instability and climate change. Developed with communities, for communities, this survey surfaces unique and often surprising information for local decision-makers, program and service providers, and young people themselves.
