Cine film does need a lot of love and care to keep it clean and it can survive for a long time. The oldest film I have had to transfer is from 1898, seen here : • Ilfracombe Station over 120 years ago... I recently had some Standard 8mm cine film from 1957 in to be transferred to digital. They had very light mildew on them, so I had to clean them; here is a short video of how I do that. I have been working with cine film almost all my life and still enjoying being able to transfer it to digital and DVD for people to share with their loved ones.
