In this video I’ll guide you through a short, full upper body warm up for flamenco dance consisting of, rib slides, chest lifts, light arm, wrist and shoulder rotations to get you ready for a deeper dance practice. So many new (and experienced) dancers skip warm ups and wonder why they can’t hit certain lines and advance to higher levels or are very sore after classes. There are lots of rib slides in this warm up. Why? Believe it or not flamenco body movement requires a strong but flexible torso to get those arms looking like your favorite dancers! Do not skip warm up, it’s a dancers best friend. Also, many (newer) dancers hold their breath. Remember to keep breathing throughout the entire warm up. You need to condition your body to handle more advanced dance techniques and have the stamina to create that effortless look that you want. This is how you become an artist rather than a technician. The more range of motion and stamina you create the more variety you can explore with your body. This is a free class from Arleen’s trademark Flamenco Sin Zapatos dance series. Let me know in the comments how this goes for you!
