Gonadotroph adenomas are pituitary tumors that secrete luteinizing hormone (LH) and follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH). These tumors are rare and often non-functioning, meaning they do not cause significant hormonal symptoms. However, when they do produce excess LH and FSH, they can lead to reproductive and endocrine disturbances. Clinical Features Men: May experience testicular enlargement (macro-orchidism) or elevated testosterone levels. Women: Can present with irregular menstrual cycles, ovarian cysts, or symptoms resembling polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS). General symptoms: Headaches, vision problems (due to compression of the optic chiasm), and fatigue. Diagnosis Hormonal tests: Elevated FSH and LH levels. Imaging: MRI scans to detect pituitary tumors. Visual field testing: If the tumor affects vision. Treatment Surgical removal (transsphenoidal surgery) is the primary treatment. Radiation therapy may be used if surgery is incomplete. Hormonal therapy is considered for managing symptoms. #Gonadotroph
