The Bahá’í Faith proclaims three Onenesses—the Oneness of God, the Oneness of religion, and the Oneness of mankind. This talk will look at the first two Onenesses, with particular attention to the second, the Oneness of religion. To understand the unity of religion, we will need to consider the Manifestations of God, Their relationships with God, and Their two stations. We will then examine the relationship between Buddhism and the Bahá’í Faith to see if such an “a-religious” tradition can be brought under the umbrella of the Oneness of religion. After earning a Masters degree in Comparative Religion from the University of Toronto, Mark Keedwell pursued a 35-year career in adult education, retiring from his position as a professor of curriculum and professional development at Algonquin College in Ottawa in 2020. One of the highlights of his career was the creation of a World Religions course, which was among the first in North America to present the Bahá’í Faith on an equal footing with five other major religions. Over the last 15 years, it has been well-received by more than 3000 students. Retirement has allowed him to direct his full attention to the study of comparative religions, resulting in the preparation and delivery of in-depth courses on Rúmí and the Bahá’í Faith (2018), ‘Abdu’l-Bahá as Interpreter (2020), and the Arc of Ascent (2020-23). His current course, Open Your Inner Eye, reflects upon a number of descriptions of the world which is unveiled when the inner eye is opened, known as the Imaginal Realm.
