Barilla - The New Trigenerator Plant

Let's discover the new 15MW trigeneration plant for the combined production of electricity, heat and also cooling in our pasta factory in Pedrignano (Parma): a new stage in our path for a better efficiency of production processes and an ever lower environmental impact. This technology - which we have decided to adopt in all our pasta factories in Italy - captures some of the heat produced by a cogeneration plant and uses it to generate chilled water for air conditioning or refrigeration, hence it guarantees many environmental benefits: a significant reduction in carbon monoxide, nitrogen oxide & CO2 emissions and lower water & gas consumption compared to a traditional cogeneration plant! The construction of the trigenerator began in March 2020, ended in January 2021 and involved 70 external companies for a total of about 800 people.
