Cataract Gorge Cataract Gorge is a beautiful natural attraction with walking trails, the world's longest single-span chairlift, a swimming pool, a restaurant, a kiosk, peacocks, wildlife, lovely gardens and a suspension bridge. Tamar River Cruises The Award-winning Tamar River Cruises operates several times daily, 365 days a year. They offer morning, lunch and afternoon cruises. You can cruise along the Tamar River or around Cataract Gorge. This is a great way to see the beautiful sights and enjoy a relaxing cruise. City Park City Park in the centre of Launceston has a conservatory, duck pond, giant chess board, playground and cafe. It is a wonderful place to wander around and enjoy the shady trees and flowering garden beds. You can also see the Japanese Macaques monkeys in their special enclosure. Penny Royal Penny Royal is a colonial-themed village with cafes, restaurants and fun activities, including a cliff jump, zip lines, rock climbing, boat rides, gold fossicking and more. It's a fun experience for the whole family. Queen Victoria Museum Queen Victoria Museum in Launceston is Australia's largest regional museum, and entry is free. There are displays of dinosaurs, planes, trains, native animals, history and the Launceston Planetarium. Some of the exhibits are interactive. Heritage Walks Launceston is one of Australia's oldest cities; wander around the city streets and marvel at the impressive Victorian and Colonial architecture. Some buildings date back to 1804 when Launceston was first established. You can also visit Princes Park with its remarkable fountain in the centre of the square. Boag's Brewery The historic James Boag Brewery is located in William Street, near the banks of the North Esk River. You can visit the Brewery for lunch, a cold beer or take a tour of the brewery to learn more about the beer-making process. The tour includes a beer tasting. Tamar Island Wetlands On the outskirts of Launceston is a unique estuarine wetland ecosystem of mudflats, lagoons and islands with abundant plants. Bird and animal life. The 4-kilometre circuit takes approx. 1.5 hours is one of the 60 Great Short walks of Tasmania. Harvest Market The Launceston Harvest Market is a community farmers market in Citimere Street that is open every Saturday from 8.30 am - 12.30 pm. There is a wonderful range of fresh fruit and vegetables, Tasmanian products, coffee and food trucks. Punchbowl Falls & Reserve Punchbowl Falls is a lovely seasonal waterfall hidden away in Punchbowl Reserve in Launceston. The park is a beautiful open area with plenty of grass to play on, a playground, toilets, BBQs, gardens, sculptures and walking tracks.
