Strictly Minchery Farm is merely part of Littlemore, and neither Google Maps nor Wikipedia recognises its existence. "The Priory of St. Nicholas, Littlemore, commonly known as the Minchery (from the Old English ' mynecu ' or ' minschen', a nun), was a small house of Benedictine nuns, founded in the reign of Stephen by Robert de Sandford. It was never a large house: in 1445 there were a prioress and six nuns and three lay boarders; in 1517 a prioress and five nuns. The priory was suppressed by Cardinal Wolsey in 1525, and part of the buildings subsequently became a farmhouse" (Oxoniensia.org). The farmhouse is now a listed building. Extensive development of the area started in the 1920s and continued in the 1950s. We start near the site of the old priory and head through Littlemore to Cowley, and, after some meanders, reach Templars Square. Then it is to the Cowley road and down to The Plain where we pick up the A420, which we follow through the city and down St Aldates, ending as it turns onto Speedwell St.
