This is a short introduction into history and the use of the English longbow which was a formidable, long range weapon which played a crucial role during the Hundred Years War between England and France (1337-1453). While the longbow was not invented by the English or Welsh, through consistent training and superior tactics, they managed to perfect its use, turning the longbow into one of the most effective weapons of its time. The English (or Welsh) longbow, with its quick rate of fire continued its reign as the supreme hand missile weapon until the introduction of firearms.
