The basic premise of the movie is that in 2005 two people are selected by the Military for a suspended animation experiment. They were chosen because they were disposable...low intellect and no Family. Luke Wilson and Maya Rudolph were supposed to be frozen for only a year. However, the project was abandoned and their pods were eventually taken to a landfill...where the sat for 400 years. Due to an avalanche at the Landfill their pods are freed and they awaken to see the decline of civilization...stupidity is rampant...language has devolved...they are smartest people on Earth.
