I had planned on making a more polished version of this sequence, but I've been working on these techniques for so long I couldn't wait to share it any longer. Please excuse roughness in production and technique, I am still working on making these changes as smooth as possible. This is a proof of concept for a variety of multi-pedal techniques I've been working on. For pedal harpists, the hardest key changes are usually half-step changes, mostly because those involve the greatest number of pedals being changed at once. I wanted to tackle each of these changes, up and down, using only one motion, executed simultaneously by both feet. It doesn't quite work that way for some of the thornier changes, but those outliers can be dealt with by quickly fudging two motions together. The goal of even developing these techniques is fluency. If a single motion(ish) can be used for the hardest key changes, than intuition and the ear can guide improvising across key centers without being held back by the feet. Other key relationships ( M2nds, m/M3rds, 4ths, and their inversions) need to be practiced as well for this kind of fluency, but none of them are as intense as the half step relationship. I hope this exercise is illuminating!
