Lost in White - The White Mountains of Crete | Season 2 - Episode 13

The White Mountains of Crete is a unique mountain range unlike any other in the world. At an altitude of 2000 meters they form an alpine desert, with an otherworldly scenery. The terrain is dark full of dips, potholes and craters, while the mountaintops are strikingly white, because of the limestone. This unique geological formations create a trully incredible lunar landscape, that enchants any who will hike there. The journey continues in Season 2, where we go to places overlooked or we go off trail to rediscover locations long forgotten. Emphasis is given at the historical and cultural importance of the routes and the life that once was in these mountains. In the span of 14 episodes we will trek in the alpine desert, reach the most extraordinary peaks, visit breathtaking gorges and go beyond the clouds. Crossing of the "White" mountain desert of the White Mountains. East to West, from Askyfou to Omalos. Starting from Ammoudari we ascend to Niato Plateau and then climb Fanari. We head northwest to Koutalas and then take the northeast Ridgeline to reach Mikros Trocharis! Mikros Trocharis has a thin ridge with epic views. We continue west to reach the pass of Gras Soros just above Sideroporti. Then we take the E4 to cross Livada, passing by Livadas Mitato.
