Amanda and I spent a day in Rabbit Hash, Kentucky—a tiny, artsy riverside spot along the Ohio River that I’ve been visiting for basically my whole life (going on ~30 years at this point). It’s the kind of place that feels like a preserved slice of Americana: the iconic General Store, the river views, the oddball charm, and the “how is this real?” vibes that make you want to keep taking pictures. This video is about 4.5 minutes and it’s shot in portrait because it started as a shorter reel idea… and then Rabbit Hash did what Rabbit Hash does: it turned into a whole little story. Gear in the mix: • Video: JVC Everio GZ-MG70 (portrait, crunchy camcorder goodness) • Stills mixed in: Panasonic Lumix LX3 (that classic look) Best surprise of the day: while we were walking around, there was a small sit-down music session happening—and we caught it on camera. I don’t know who the players were, but it was perfect, so I let that become the backbone of the soundtrack and edited the video around it. Total “right place, right time” moment. Also: Rabbit Hash is famously quirky in the best way—especially the tradition of electing a dog mayor (seriously). If you’ve never been, it’s a weird little gem. If you have been… you already get it.
