Trump Turns to Russian Oil to Bring Down Energy Costs

The oil prices came back down after the huge spike yesterday. They are still high but they’ve dropped under $100 per barrel. What has led to this price decrease was the fact that the G7 countries have discussed the release of 300-400 mln barrels of oil from their strategic oil reserves. Also, another factor which has heavily contributed is the fact that Donald Trump has had a phone call with Russia’s President Vladimir Putin and he has then stated that the US will lift certain oil sanctions in order to help with energy costs. Emmanuel Macron has announced that France wants to provide a military escorting service for the container ships and tankers passing through the straight of Hormuz, but only after the fighting subsides. Donald Trump has warned Iran that the US will hit it much harder if it does anything that endangers the transit of ships through the Strait of Hormuz.
