Instrumental in the NBA league awareness and branding in it's formative seasons. TV networks were not granting the National Basketball Association a primetime broadcast deal back in the 1950's through 1980 so fans of the fledgling league got their hoops fix (and information) from Chick Hearn of the Minneapolis and LA Lakers while Johnny Most was the raspy east coast, lunch pail toting, cigarette smoking, blue collar voice of the Boston Celtics. Johnny Broadcasts are rare. Interviews are even more rare. Conversely, Chick gave us a treasure chest of nightly content in the form of player/coach interviews at halftime or post-game.
