Portland Designer Janel Campbell and her team recently completed two beautiful bathroom transformations in a home near Cathedral Park. Remodeling two bathrooms at the same time has its challenges, but after more than 20 years in practice, Janel knows exactly how to navigate them. Watch till the end to hear her favorite part of the whole process. Transcript: They have a son on the main floor and daughters on the upstairs. So we were looking for really charming features that would highlight a little bit more moody on the main floor and a little bit more delicate and light in the upstairs bathroom. The other piece that we were looking for in this bathroom was, this is also where guests stay, and we wanted to have a shower for aging in place. So this is something where an older relative can easily use the shower without having to step over. What was here was a clawfoot tub, which is a really dangerous thing for someone who's older to use. So we have a separate shower and tub, and then enough storage space for not only the primary user, but then guests as well. When we are trying to remodel two bathrooms at once, it's being really mindful of the budget as well as the scope of work and can we accomplish everything on that wish list? And that meant looking at different plumbing fixtures and how to marry finishes between brands, looking at different flooring. And we came up with something great. The rooms just sparkle. The inspiration for the design. I would say that started with the William and Morris wallpaper. Both rooms have wallpapers. This one has a shimmer to it. Upstairs is this delicate flower, and then the color palettes just radiated from that. The mirror is vintage. They love to go antiquing. And it was a piece that they said, hey, can we use this? Yes. Other pieces were incorporating, just some little bits of jewelry in the cabinet hardware in both bathrooms. bringing in a little bit of delicate features, even though it's a masculine bathroom. And then the very last one of my favorites in this room is the picket fence, where we had thought maybe we would bring that up with a straight line, and we thought, nope, let's have a little less tile and the picket fence. And he's from England. And so we get to see a little bit of details in here, some fun. To see them smile and want to show it off. That's huge. That's that's the piece when we've done our job correctly because they have so much pride in their new space.
