Legendary ATLAS Omega II Residential Traction Passenger Elevator - Pvt. Bldg. - MG, BR

Today, August 5, is my birthday, and to celebrate that, here's a rightful refilm of one of my childhood elevators! This the the ATLAS Omega II Elevator at a private residential building where one of my relatives lives. Rode this many times, this one has a special place in my heart. I hadn't come back here since the 2018 which was when I made the original video. This time I took the opportunity to refilm the passenger one (which was one of my first videos overall) and film the service one. Now with no talking over the motor sound, full trips, and much better filming. The constant humming which sounds like a frog croaking is from the pool heater which sits behind the shaft on level P. That table thing there, is so they can send stuff like delivery food or packages, without having to send people up to the floor. Great idea in my opinion, Atlas Schindler should take notes. This elevator is from 1992, and has suffered no major alterations since then. The cab is pretty plain and simple, the design is common to the model, with the rounded wall corners, back wall mirror and light fixture. It's quite small compared to the average american elevator too. The phone cabinet still has the original phone with the rounded Elevadores Atlas logo, a nice piece. The stainless steel cab feels more solid and sturdy in relation to the plywood ones. The external doors still have most of the original FF-2 door closers, save for some which have Atlas Schindler replacements and level 2 which has an older "Magal" FEV-54 type closer, weirdly. Atlas Schindler and the green Atlas Advanced Service warning stickers on the inner landing door arms. Aside from that, it's in good shape. It is equipped with the "Atlas Code" feature, which locks all apartment floors, as it's only one per floor and opens up right into people's living rooms. Atlas Code works like this: you type a password using the floor buttons, like supposing you want to go to floor 5, then you press a combination like 5 - 14 - 8, and it accepts the call. Unless, the floor is already unlocked, which is done only at the floor itself, through a key switch above the call station, then you simply press the floor and it goes there. However, this is super confusing for most people, hard to do for some as it requires pressing them quickly, and it has a terrible issue: if you press a locked floor or don't type the combination quickly enough, the elevator will LOCK you there, close the door and simply don't open it. Only unlocks when someone on the ground floor resets it, and you HAVE to call for help. That's why I couldn't go up to 16. Good feature, terrible implementation... thankfully Atlas (and then Atlas Schindler) have worked better on it for their later models. The elevator is still running as fine as it did back then, and most Omegas, with it's harsh stops and bumps, offering a good ride besides that. Not on Schindler maintenance anymore, a local generic is taking care of it, but does a good job. Very reliable, has few to no issues. Signature of most Omegas, it makes that buzzing sound after closing the doors while starting, which is DC current being injected into the door operator or some component near it. Finally, a filming that truly honors this special elevator!
