In this video, I take you on a hike up Mount Ishizuchi (1,982 metres / 6503 ft) during the mountain opening festival, which takes place during the ten days after July 1st. This spiritual mountain, one of the Seven Holy Mountains (七霊山), is the highest peak in western Japan and famous for its beautiful nature, breathtaking Tengu-dake ridgeline, and a series of iron climbing chains, as well of course its spiritual significance. この動画では、7月1日から、10日間に行われる山開き大祭の期間中に、石鎚山（標高1982メートル）を登山する様子を紹介する。七霊山のひとつであるこの霊峰は、西日本最高峰であり、その美しい自然、息を呑むような天狗岳の稜線、鉄の鎖場などで有名である。 Our route starts at the cable car station, 1300 metres above sea level, takes us through Joju Shrine, and rises steeply up the mountain, taking around 3 hours to reach the peak. I met a friend of mine on his way up the mountain, carrying supplies for the mountain hut located near the peak. This job is known as "bokka" (歩荷), and such delivery people carry loads anywhere between 5 kg and 70 kg!
