Higher education is and will continue to place an immense strain on society. Acevedo explains one idea that could be the end of student debt, making education more accessible. After receiving institutional scholarships to cover the majority of his undergraduate and graduate education, he grew interested in learning about the financing of colleges and exploring how some institutions are able to accommodate tuition-free education into their cost structure. His talk centers around the use of endowments to completely finance the cost of higher education. Sergio Acevedo is a dental student at the University of Connecticut. He grew up in Moca, Puerto Rico, and earned a bachelor's degree in Biology from the University of Puerto Rico in Aguadilla.
