San Fransisco DNC Meeting: A Wrap-up with Tina-Desiree Berg

Tina Desiree Berg presents highlights from the DNC meeting in SF (#DNCMeetingSF2019) Included are Progressive Caucus panel discussing that the DNC needs to reverse its position on a #ClimateDebate, the Resolutions Committee meeting, hearing the same argument, which was interrupted by #SunriseMovement members, registered for this meeting, who were being physically prevented from entering, but protested until they were eventually admitted. The resolution was tentatively struck down due to lobbyists within the ranks of the DNC, which is a serious conflict of interests--as well as selfish, unethincal, immoral and, frankly, obscene. This must be disallowed. People over profit should trump all in this crucial subject. Protest by Sunrise Movement resulted, and Tina interviewed members as to both being prevented from entering and the striking down of the resolution. Nina Turner addressed the Sunrise Movement and praised them for their continued attention to climate change. Yang and Tim Ryan show up and pat themselves on their respective backs and make campaign promises. Kamala Harris supporters make a scene, chanting and clapping. Highlights from Rev. Barber on the Poor Peoples' Assembly, bigotry and systemic racism. Kamala gives speech and her staff disrespects Bernie as he approaches the podium, chanting for Harris. They then try to divert attention by chanting in the hallway after being forced to leave. We hear Bernie speak on the climate crisis and Medicare For All. Then, Tom Perez announces that 48 of the 50 propositions presented were passed, and two weren't, one of which, of course, was Proposition 4, for the debate on climate change. He makes every excuse possible as to why DNC denies a climate crisis debate before permitting speakers and a "vote" for a final determination on this badly-needed debate. The most absurd argument was that "there can't be 'too many' debates". Tina interviews several members before the vote. The proposition was summarily struck down, with a final vote of 222-131. The vote was 141-118 before proxies. The majority of the proxy voteres had instructed that their votes should "back the chair (Perez)" Out of the 222, 75 were "at large" delegates who were appointed by Perez, including lobbyists for the fossil fuel industry and one from "News Corporation" (the corporation, owned by Rupert Murdoch, that is home to Fox and a wealth of conservative publications). #DNCMeetingSF2019 #ClimateDebate #SunriseMovement Please help our Real Progressives efforts and become a monthly donor!
