WFH Humanitarian Aid Program: giving children a chance at a normal life in Senegal

For the World Federation of Hemophilia (WFH) Humanitarian Aid Program, sustainability means supporting countries until their governments can independently provide medical support for their bleeding disorders communities. A big step in this journey is getting children with bleeding disorders out of the cycle of acute bleeds and hospitalization that keeps them from going to school. While Senegal isn’t yet at the level of being able to offer sustainable care to its community, the situation has improved enough that—for the first time in the country’s history—children are receiving enough donated factor and non-factor replacement therapy to allow them to go to school consistently.
