Now I did end up tossing in another 4GB of RAM that I had laying around but still this is a beast of a cheap laptop if there ever was one. My plan is to with upgrades make it the best budget laptop 2020 under 1000! In the benchmarks of video rendering, I was trying to determine if the system was thermally limited so I stuck it on top of my portable AC unit and chilled the bottom of the laptop and the benchmarks speak for themselves as it does show thermal throttling when no additional cooling is provided. Turns out that the Dell Inspiron 3493 does get thermally throttled when pushed hard, but most laptops do. One interesting thing is that when I was cooling using the air conditioner that the laptop performed better with the bottom kept on. I think what's happening here is that the air channels that are being taken inside the case allow for better at expelling of heat VS with the bottom off and chilling the underside of the motherboard, CPU/Heatsink and other components. For the price it is a good entry for cheap laptops for gaming. It will run Minecraft and RoBlox well and I'll update on other games as well as my son tries them out on it. Again for the price this is one of the best laptops and best budget laptop for 2020 that I could find. If you find a better one than the Dell Inspiron 3493 14 3000 please comment below. So far this is also the best laptop for video editing that I could find NEW and well under $700. Even without upgrading if you just want something cheap and fast it's one of best laptops for students. I know most student's done have much more than a couple of hundred dollars for a new or used laptop and give it a few months and you'll start seeing them used online for even cheaper making it the best laptop for students.
