A HAPPY ENDING! Starts with a rare occurrence of a cow not showing interest in her new born calf. After a number of hours, we intervened by activating the calf by rubbing it in a way that was mimicking its mother licking it. After he gets up, we helped him catch the teats & suckle, which was now becoming crucial. We believe that a calf needs to suckle asap after birth! At this point all the signs were that this cow was going to reject the calf! Had she done that, she would have been culled. We went on to complete vaccinations & just as we were going to “attend” to her again, alas! She started licking the calf & embracing it! Video ends the next day when she was absolutely loving her bull calf! Plus another cow that calved overnight joins the maternity! 😍😍
