The Great Trade Disruption: What Forces are Driving the Current Re-alignment of Global Trade? And Where are we Headed? This event is part of the STEM for Global Resilience Coffee Chat Series. After designing and leading the global economic system for over three quarters of a century, the US has unilaterally pushed for fundamental changes to it since the new presidency.  In his presentation, Dr. Hancock will examine the long and short-term forces driving these changes, and suggest ways that the system could both change and remain the same. About the Speaker  John Hancock works at the World Trade Organization (WTO) in Geneva, Switzerland, where he has served as senior policy advisor to the Director-General, representative to the IMF and World Bank, and head of policy development. He spearheaded the launch of the WTO’s Aid-for-Trade Initiative, as well as the recent ‘Joint Initiatives’ on investment facilitation and other emerging issues. Prior to joining the WTO, John was senior advisor to Canada’s trade minister. He holds a PhD from Cambridge University, has written and spoken frequently on international issues.
