The China-Uganda Naguru Hospital maternity ward is plagued by egregious negligence, rampant corruption, and appalling conditions, resulting in unacceptable maternal and childhood mortality rates, due to the collective failure of Kampala Capital City Authority, the Ministry of Health, and the Government of Uganda to provide adequate oversight and supervision. "We urgently call upon the Government of Uganda to take immediate action to address the deplorable state of the China-Uganda Naguru Hospital maternity ward. The egregious negligence, rampant corruption, and appalling conditions are unacceptable and inexcusable. It is the government's responsibility to ensure quality healthcare services, particularly for vulnerable mothers and children. We demand that the Government of Uganda takes the following steps: 1. Conducts a thorough investigation into the allegations of negligence and corruption. 2. Take immediate action to improve the conditions and services at the maternity ward. 3. Hold accountable those responsible for the neglect and corruption. 4. Provides adequate resources and support to ensure the provision of quality healthcare services. The lives of mothers and children depend on it. We cannot afford to wait any longer."
