When learning the new language, English speakers often associate the '-ING' ending form of verbs in English to the '-ANDO', '-ENDO', '-INDO' ending forms in Portuguese. Such association does work sometimes, but some other times...it doesn't, leading to a misuse of the Gerund in Portuguese.
