Once it’s done click finish. To open it type scrivener into the windows search bar on the bottom left of your screen and click on Scrivener. If you want to keep using the free trial, select continue trial. Now we're going to create a new project. You can from several templates or create a blank project. Let’s start with going to fiction and selecting the novel template. Then click create. Name the project then hit save. When you open your project, you'll see an overview screen that provides details about the selected template. You can always come back to this by clicking Novel Format at the top of the left panel. The left panel is called the binder, and the main section is the editor. The blank white screen doesn't look great so we can customise it by going to file and clicking options. Then click on the appearance tab, under binder you can change the fonts and make folder fonts bold. You can also change the colour of the binder panel and restore it to default. Make sure to click apply after you change anything in this menu. If you click on Main Editor, then colours you can change the colour behind the text. Then if you go to 'fixed width background' you can change the colour of the editor’s background or add an image. Here I'm adding a sci fi background but that's too busy, so I just swap it out for this. Now I'm going to paste some text here. You can change the font in the top panel. Now that we've set up our project and customized the interface to suit our preferences, it's time to organise our writing. The Binder is where you'll manage your documents, whether you're working on chapters, scenes, or notes. Now, let's explore how to create and organize documents within the Binder. To change the name of a folder double click on it and enter the new name. To add a new folder right click on a folder, under add click new folder. Then name it. You can do the same for text documents. The text documents are where you type your manuscript. You can also put folders into other folders. Here I’m using it to form the basis of a three-act structure. To enter composition mode, click this button on the top right, to work distraction free. To exit press the escape. If you click the i icon on the top right, you’ll open the inspector. If you then click the camera icon or snapshot. This is scriveners version control. Click the plus button to take a snapshot.
