Yes, you can install your platen using epoxy but you will destroy the glass when you remove it. Good quality double sided carpet tape is the answer. Good quality double sided carpet tape in incredibly strong. If it gives at all, only a slight shift will occur. When epoxy gives way, it can be sudden and violent. I have been using double sided carpet tape on my grinders for many hundreds of hours without a single failure. The tape is easily dissolved using acetone. I then clean up the residue using rubbing alcohol. It leaves a nice clean surface that the tape can adhere to securely. After both the glass and metal it is attached to your thoroughly cleaned, fasten two pieces of double sided tape to the glass. Make sure your glass is aligned on the platen and pressed firmly. The ceramic glass I use and sell is very durable. I have had no reason to even replace them. If this is your first installation, please, please, please don’t use regular glass. It is dangerous. Also, don’t forget to have a small shelf installed to support the glass.
