Ranger William is joined by Rob Holmes to discuss the role that Spain played during the American Revolution in the Southern Campaign and why Overmountain leader Isaac Shelby later explained described the Spanish in New Orleans as their contingency plan if the Battle of Kings Mountain had failed. Rob Holmes is a Park Ranger at Kings Mountain National Military Park. He is formerly a Park Guide at Castillo de San Marcos National Monument where he was able to dive in and explore his interest in Spain's role in the American Revolution. Rob has been with the National Park Service since 2016, has a Master's Degree in History, and is a member of the National Park Service's "America 250" Committee focused on organizing ways to commemorate the 250th anniversary (semi quincentennial) of the founding of the United States of America. Ranger William from the Overmountain Victory National Historic Trail interviews a series of historians and researchers on topics related to Early America, the American Revolution, and the Southern Frontier. These conversations give a better understanding of the world surrounding the Southern Campaign of the American Revolution, and specifically the events that took place on the Overmountain Victory Trail and the Battle of Kings Mountain in 1780.
