This solution is so easy you'll wonder why you haven't done this! Using art materials you already have, you can create a watercolor background without the painstaking process of painting masking fluid or painting around intricate edges. By changing the order of steps, you can easily create a beautiful continuous background behind intricate shapes. Sit alongside me while I paint with Kuretake Granulating (Set 2) and Daniel Smith watercolors. I use Prismacolor Premiere colored pencils, and a white Pandafly gel pen. I used Winsor & Newton masking fluid just for the gems, but they could have been done ahead with my technique, just like the leaves. That's optional, and was only done that way because I didn't want to decide what color to use on the gems before seeing the final colors combined in the background. That was a totally optional step not needed for this demo. Not everything goes as planned, but hang out with me while I try to turn a train wreck into a beautiful finished page.
