The victim, 40-year-old Jimmy Chase, was attacked outside on January 8 shortly before 5:30 p.m. He suffered multiple stab wounds to the torso and was transported to Capital Health Regional Medical Center, where he died the following morning. Chase's sister, Latoya, said the attack happened in front of his children and was carried out by their mother's boyfriend. "While outside teaching his three sons how to ride their bikes, Jimmy was attacked and murdered in front of them," she wrote in a GoFundMe post created to support the children. "This senseless act has left our family devastated and his children without their loving father." According to the Mercer County Prosecutor's Office, the stabbing followed a physical altercation between Chase and the suspect, who is the boyfriend of the children's mother. Much of the confrontation was captured on a cell phone video, and the children can be seen attempting to intervene. Chase's family described him as a devoted father and an active member of his community. "Jimmy was a good man who played a major role in our community and was always there to lend a helping hand," his sister said.
