Welcome back to another #Discodelicos session! Session 26, as it seems, is a highly anticipated presentation for all the reggae collectors! We're proud to showcase Tomas Reggae Scorcher, a reggae and rocksteady aficionado, dropping by the Discodelic storefront decks to throw down a 48 minute set of incredibly rare rocksteady and early proto reggae 45s from his personal collection. Reggae Scorcher is both a club in Malmö, Sweden and a DJing record collectors group. Founded in 2005, Reggae Scorcher has become a household name in Sweden and throughout Europe, known to showcase the early reggae and rocksteady scene. Widely known as connoisseurs with impeccable taste in rare and vintage Jamaican vinyl sounds, they've also been known to create mayhem on the dance floor as their beerdrinking lunatic selves, always ready to pack the floor with the greatest hits of the time! This session is definitely one for the books. We hope you enjoy it as much as we do! = = = Director's note: "I knew Tomas by reputation, but had never had the pleasure of seeing him showcase his records. Before we started to record, he asked for a microphone. I didn't realize that he'd be boasting and toasting throughout the session. We scrambled and quickly found one, but... I didn't adequately mix the recording of the session to account for the microphone. So... even though we were able to hear his commentary in the store during the recording of the session, it came out far too quiet in the recording. As a result, his commentary unfortunately gets lost a bit. However, I found the entire presentation unique and charming. Apparently, toasting and boasting on the mic is how it's done in the clubs in Sweden, whereas here stateside, it's most prevalent to simply play and mix the 45s. In a sense, we got a taste of how the Reggae Scorcher collective typically present their sets back home! A new twist for the Discodelicos canon. It was a pleasure working with Tomas, and we're looking forward to having him and other members of the Reggae Scorchers come out to the bay in the future!" = = = Recorded live at the Discodelic store in San Francisco, we aim to bring you eclectic mixes by DJs and record collectors from around the world! Whether you’re a record collector who is curious about obscure lost sounds or are just plainly a music lover, these “Discodelicos” sessions will all be testaments to the art of record digging and delicious sonic selections.
