Ep. 197 - Ranching in Drought Conditions...Building a Bison Ranch

Building a bison ranch is hard enough. Doing it in a drought takes it to another level. Our 2.5 acre pasture has to be finished to accept our bison yearlings as our water and food are running low. Our John Deere 5075 was extremely helpful in getting this done. The tractor grapple moved trees while our power tools finished the bison fence and pasture gate. Working fast to prepare the pasture for bison and improve ranch efficiency. Here on Blackacre Ranch we are city folk who moved to the country to start ranching bison (i.e. buffalo). We are a family with 6 kids. Our goals are to homestead the property, grow healthy food, and build good character along the way. We are new to homesteading and don't know much about it, but we are willing to share our struggles and journey as we learn how to homestead together. Think of this as homesteading for beginners where we are the beginners. We are converting an old rundown church camp into a first generation ranch...profitable ranch that is.
