At 56, I assumed I had myself pretty figured out. As someone who likes to think I can read emotions and intent in others very well, I didn't consider myself neurodivergent, just "tinged" with some ADHD and Aspergers attibutes. But, evidently, women are underdiagnosed because we have a different set of traits (on the whole) than men when it comes to how we present ourselves to the world. And lo and behold... one of those traits is being able "to read a room" and pinpoint subtle emotions in other people (a coping mechanism) - what I thought kept me from being neurodivergent. It's a strange and beautiful thing to suddenly see my memories through an "enlightened" perspective. And oddly enough, it makes me feel "normal" - in that, what I've always beat myself up about (for years), was simply my way of navigating a "foreign land" while not speaking the language! 😅 This "invisible" lens helped me see life in a unique way that I believe has only helped my writing. Can any of you relate to this? I'd love to hear about it in the comments! #neurodivergentcreator #neurodivergent #actuallyautistic #writingcommunity #aspiringauthor #writingjourney
