Talk #3 @ The Irish Moravian Archives Exhibition 2026

Presenters: Alastair Donaghy & Stephen McCracken How the Moravian archives have informed our understanding of the events in June 1798, and the United Irishmen Rebellion's impact on the wider Ballymena, and Gracehill area" by Alastair Donaghy (local historian and tour guide) and Stephen McCracken (published author on United Irishmen). The session put the village of Gracehill and the Moravian congregation into the context of what was happening in Ireland in the late 18th century, before, during and after the United Irish Rebellion. The focus was on how the Moravian archives, and diaries shed light on our understanding, not only on what happened and why, but also how big historical episodes impact on the lives of ordinary people.
