Surgery Rotation Vlog | Podiatric Medical Students

𝗦𝘂𝗿𝗴𝗲𝗿𝘆 𝗥𝗼𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗩𝗹𝗼𝗴 We continuously have lots to be thankful for, especially our surgery rotation. We are pleased to finally share our surgical vlog experience as 3rd-year podiatric medical students! Waking up for surgery days was a little tough, just because we were always catching up on studying the night before (and to be completely honest, we felt tapped out after, so we would set aside time to decompress with Netflix and gaming). However, the overall experience went above our expectations. The privilege of scrubbing into OR cases of all sorts, not only podiatry cases, made it fascinating. The doctors, nurses, and OR staff were kind and patient with us by taking their time to get us acquainted with the whole environment, making it less stressful and enjoyable. Having the ability to stand right next to a patient with the doctor asking you to "suction" or "retract" was one of the most surreal feelings. Nothing can replicate that feeling, and we are absolutely grateful for the knowledge and exposure we gained during our 2 months of surgery rotation. We will keep working until the day we ourselves can say, “scalpel please."
