How to carry a bike in a car? If you are new to bike commuting or have a long commute you could drive half way and then bike the rest. 1. Remove the front wheel. 2. Slide the bike into the back seat with the pedal facing up resting on the seat. 3. Put in the front wheel. You can remove a front wheel without deflating your tire if you have disc brakes or cantilever brakes. It can be done with road caliper style brakes but you will have to set the cable tension and barrel adjuster just right... it should work easily with a 23mm tire. Alternatively, you could carry your bike outside your car on a bike rack, which might be a better idea if you are transporting a muddy mountain bike.
