*BEECH CLIFF TRAIL Video Guide* This trail may be tougher than BEEHIVE TRAIL or PRECIPICE TRAIL for some with its iron ladders. Climbing up Beech Cliffs from Echo Lake, depending on your climbing preferences and hiking style, the challenge of iron ladders & transferring from ladder to granite cliff shelf may be unsettling even for experienced climbers and on subsequent climbs of this after the first one. If a picture is worth 1000 words...what's a video worth? *KNOW WHAT TO EXPECT ON THE TRAIL* see the Terrain, Trailheads, Views, and Intersecting Trails... NATURE!!! LIKE or SUBSCRIBE - I'd like for you to do either, I'd LOVE for you to do both! BEECH CLIFF TRAIL begins in the parking area at the end of Echo Lake Beach Road. From the trailhead it descends a set of stairs to another trail sign (2 lower signs were BEECH CLIFFS TRAIL in 2024 contradicting maps and books - hopefully they've been changed). From here the trail meanders near the coast of Echo Lake before turning up the cliffs. Here it ascends stone steps and switches back a few times until reaching a small talus field. Before turning upward again an Overlook is a short detour to an overview of Echo Lake and Echo Lake Beach. Stepping through the talus wood framed dirt steps and stone steps lead to ducking under a large low hanging tree. From here low steps lead to the first of 4 steep ladders. A single iron rung assists the transition back on trail where stairs lead up to a path beside which is a steep granite cliff wall. At the end of this is a sequence of ladder, stone steps and two more ladders quickly gaining altitude and arriving at a short scramble to the top of the cliffs and the trailhead on CANADA CLIFFS TRAIL... a less steep descent. I hope my efforts make your watching experience AND your next visit to ACADIA NATIONAL PARK ... wicked awesome! FRIENDLY REMINDER: no matter the difficulty, hiking has risks... HAVE A PLAN... the best times are had when planned properly. Alternate, shorter routes than what you intend to hike are abundant in Acadia... your hiking plan can include them as contingencies. Injuries can happen, let others know your planned route and timeframe... cell service is spotty in Acadia National Park. Remember: know your limits so you can push them, and DEFINITELY REMEMBER: what goes up must come down which includes you...
