Beinn an Lochain is a high Corbett hill located around 7 miles from Arrochar village. It is 901 meters high and it was initially classified as Munro, but degraded after more exact measurements. It offers a great vista of Arrochar Alps, Ben Lomond and in the good weather, peaks of Lochaber area. The trail to the top is relatively short - it took us 4 hours, but it was due to my poor stamina - for somebody who is a frequent hill walker it would be between 3 and 3.5 hours. The path is very steep and sometimes either difficult or outright scary. Some scrambles, paths on the verge of vertical drops and dizzying ledges - it all makes the climb interesting and fun if you don't suffer from vertigo. Overall the climb is much more attractive and offers better views than many better known hills. The path is clearly visible from the very start and we never had any issues to find our way to the top (or back). The car park is very small, on the verge of the road. I'm not sure how busy it is in the weekends or in the season, but on Thursday, the end of March there were only two cars there for the whole day.
