www.senditskydiving.com Cutaway cables on UPT Vector 3 harness container systems must be trimmed per the instruction manual to 7 1/2 inches of excess outside of the right cable housing and 5 1/2 inches of excess outside of the left cable housing. The cutaway handle for all harness-container systems manufactured in the United States is seated on the right side of the main lift webbing; hence the cutaway cable routed to the right three-ring system is longer than the left cable housing. The differential in the lengths of the cutaway cables exists so that the malfunctioning main canopies riser's three-ring systems are simultaneously released together and fully clear before the RSL, which on UPT Vector 3 connects on the right riser pulls the reserve pin or extracts the reserve free bag. Any delay in the timing of the main riser's clearing together can be deadly, including the reserve canopy firing into the malfunctioning main canopy.
