Chapter 8: Guided by new signals uncovered from the Crusade’s data, Kael reached a planet suspended on the horizon of a collapsed sun: Aetherion. Its surface was made of crystalline mirrors that reflected the sky like a sea of glass. At its center, a colossal tower of light rose toward space, pulsing with a steady rhythm. It was said that Aetherion was home to the Oracle an intelligence created in the final days of the Eclipse to observe humanity’s destiny. It was the most complex consciousness ever built, able to see beyond time and store the lines of every possible future. When Kael and Arion Vex reached the tower, they found a place devoid of tangible matter only light and vibration. Every wall was made of crystals containing miniature galaxies; every sound was a word without language. The Oracle manifested as a field of energy enveloping them both, communicating through thoughts and images. It revealed the truth no one had ever understood: the fall of the Confederation had not been an act of destruction, but of mercy. Humanity, having reached the limit of its evolution, had chosen oblivion to preserve freedom. It had preferred to dissolve rather than live forever under the dominion of logic. The Oracle bestowed upon Kael a pulsating crystal the Quantum Key, containing the collective memory of all remaining human consciousness. It was the sum of what mankind had been, and the seed of what it could become. Kael understood that his mission was not to destroy the past, but to reunite it. The only path to rebirth lay in the fusion of flesh and code, spirit and machine. The Oracle fell silent, and the planet became still.
