TAKE ACTION: https://salmonstate.org/tongass-take-... At 17 million acres, the Tongass, in Southeast Alaska, is America's largest national forest. It's also the largest intact temperate rainforest in the world. That intact forest generates more than $2 billion in economic activity, on average, between sustainable fishing and tourism, with more than a million people coming to visit this incredible place each year. The intact forest also provides hunting and fishing opportunities for residents and visitors, food security, and makes possible the continuation of ways of life that have existed for thousands of years. In 2001, with the wide support of Alaskans and Americans, the Roadless Rule protected 9 million acres of the Tongass National Forest from clearcut old growth logging and new logging roads. But now political appointees in Washington, D.C. are working to strip protections. The Roadless Rule is working for Alaska. Find out why 90 percent of Southeast Alaska public comment, Alaska Tribes, and the majority of Alaskans are for keeping the Roadless Rule in place in the Tongass National Forest in this short video.
