The Guards Big Band is an "extra-curricular" activity that is open to musicians serving in any of the 5 Foot Guards Bands (the Grenadier, Coldstream, Scots, Irish and Welsh Guards Bands). At the 2012 "Scarlet and Gold" concerts in November 2012 at the Methodist Central Hall, Westminster, the Guards Big Band were featured playing 3 "numbers": "Wind Machine" written by Sammy Nestico for the Count Basie Big Band. "In The Wee Small Hours Of The Morning" - music by David Mann, lyrics by Bob Hilliard, arranged by James Scott. "A Foggy Day In London Town" - music by George Gershwin, lyrics by Ira Gershwin. The Band Leader on Bass Guitar is Colour Sergeant Jason Libby. On Piano is Musician Sam Petchey, on Drums Musician Neil Brocklehurst; on Vocals Lance Sergeant James Scott (he blows a kiss to his Mum who was in the audience), on Alto Saxophone is Musician Dean Nixon, and on Tenor Saxophone is Lance Sergeant Clark Doidge.
