This is part of a tutorial originally created for students studying in the Ocean & Naval Architectural Engineering discipline at Memorial University of Newfoundland’s Faculty of Engineering & Applied Science in St. John’s, Newfoundland, Canada. The tutorial is primarily aimed at beginner and early-intermediate Naval Architecture students looking to develop their familiarity with classical and modern methods of ship design and construction. The objective of tutorial Ocean Systems Design 302d is to increase your understanding of how to use a popular CAD software to further develop a hull form using standard menu features in the Max Surf stability module. Note: This series is not affiliated with any faculty or department at Memorial University of Newfoundland. By the end of the tutorial, you should be able to: -Identify essential MAXSURF commands used for creating prismatic and non-prismatic tanks -Build and form tanks in a MAXSURF or other NURB-surface imported design -Define non-buoyant volumes -Populate tanks with assorted marine fluids for further analysis There are many tutorials on hull design and fairing using MaxSurf available on YouTube.
