Here is a short note on the journey from Shardha to Kel (often spelled Kheel) in the Neelum Valley. The Road Journey Distance & Time: The distance is approximately 19–22 km, but due to the rough terrain, it typically takes 1 to 1.5 hours. Condition: The road is effectively a jeep track. While locals sometimes take regular cars, it is highly recommended to hire a 4x4 jeep or use a car with good ground clearance. The path is unpaved, bumpy, and can be muddy, especially after rain. Accessibility: The road is usually open from May to October. In winter, heavy snowfall often makes it inaccessible for standard vehicles. Scenic Views & Highlights This stretch is considered one of the most beautiful drives in Kashmir. River Companionship: The turquoise Neelum River flows alongside the road for the entire journey, offering mesmerizing views of the water crashing against rocks. Lush Landscapes: You will drive through dense pine forests and winding mountain paths. As you get closer to Kel, the valley widens, revealing breathtaking views of snow-capped peaks (including Nanga Parbat massif in the distance on clear days). Glaciers: You may spot small glaciers and waterfalls cascading down the mountainsides along the route. Destination: Kel & Arang Kel Once you reach Kel, you are at a base camp for further exploration. Most tourists immediately take the chairlift (Doli) or hike up to Arang Kel ("Pearl of Neelum Valley"), a stunning meadow village sitting on a hilltop above Kel, offering panoramic sunset views that are unforgettable #ShardatoKel #NeelumValley #ArangKel #KelValley #Sharda #AzadKashmir #NeelumRiver #KashmirDiaries #RoadTripPakistan #OffRoading #JeepSafari #MountainRoads #TravelPakistan #AdventureTravel #DangerousRoads #HeavenOnEarth #NatureLovers #CaptivatingKashmir #TravelGram #PakistanZindabad #Wanderlust #ScenicViews #BeautifulPakistan
