Summer of 1988... the weather was unusually rainy that year, and I spent a lot more time indoors playing video games and watching cartoons than I normally would have. My Mom, was an avid daytime soap opera watcher. Days Of Our Lives, All My Children, One Life To Live, and General Hospital were the shows she enjoyed the most. She would even record them on VHS when different shows aired simultaneously. I found myself watching OLTL more and more frequently as the days passed that summer. I really liked the outrageous story-lines and even became a sucker for the sappy romances, but mostly, I was happy to spend time with my Mom. Now, I'll be honest, I did watch episodes across all the soaps listed above more than just that summer of '88. So, I had become familiar enough to know certain characters or current situations happening at most times. I just wasn't watching them religiously. But one day, I remember a wedding episode and this beautiful lady entered the scene. She had short blonde hair, gorgeous bright eyes, and the cutest dimples!! For me, it was an instant crush - it was "Didi" and it became apparent that she was to be Bo Buchanan's love interest. Low and behold, they did fall in love and eventually got married. I recall a time when Didi was kidnapped, and Bo came to her rescue and so many other adventures they encountered together. My mother and I really liked Bo and Didi as a couple and they truly had great chemistry on the TV screen. Sadly, Didi met her demise while in a hostage situation, where she jumped in to protect Bo from the evil villain (I think it was "Faux Bo"?). In doing so, Didi and the bad guy end up getting hurled into a high voltage power supply and are both electrocuted. It was "shocking" and sad to watch!! Some time later, Didi passes away in the hospital with Bo at her side. I will never, ever, forget this scene - which is highlighted here in the video. After Didi dies, there is a montage of the loving relationship that Bo and her shared together. But the song choice of "Hands to Heaven" by Breathe being played was the magic touch! My Mom and I wept like babies! Many fans cherish this stand-out and touching moment and emotional song. Please enjoy this video tribute to the band, Breathe and a beautifully expanded mix of their hit song "Hands to Heaven"... And also "One Life To Live" for creating this story-line that will forever hold a special place in my heart! Barbara Treutelaar as "Didi O'Neill Buchanan" Robert S. Woods as "Beaufort Oglethorpe 'Bo' Buchanan" ________________________________________________________________________ [below extracted from their wiki page] "Hands to Heaven" is a ballad by band Breathe, released as their band's second single in the US in 1987.
