In this week’s video I carry out two repairs — a muck fork top grab and a baler flywheel. The muck fork had ripped one of the pivot mounts clean off and the opposite side was badly worn. I cut both pivots off using the gas torch, machined new replacements on the lathe, and welded them back into position to bring the grab back to life. The second job was repairing a damaged shear bolt hole in a baler flywheel. The bore where the shear bolt bush fits had been gouged and was no longer usable. I preheated the hub before welding up the damaged area, then mounted the flywheel in the milling machine to drill and ream the hole out to 35mm. A new sleeve was turned on the lathe and pressed into the flywheel before using an adjustable reamer to bring the bore back to its original size. To secure the repair, I drilled and tapped a hole for a grub screw to hold the sleeve in the flywheel. Two solid repairs finished and ready to go back to work. Hope you enjoy the video. Thanks for watching!
