German Railways Extract - Duisburg Wedau south in 2023. Busy main line freight train action.

From the DVD Germany: hotspots - Duisburg and Gremberg Yard (2023) In 2016 we published our Gremberg Yard Hot Spot programme: in this release we provide an update on motive power and traffic types to be seen at this busy Cologne Railway location. In addition we also journey north to Duisburg to cover the freight only line south of the city and east of the River Rhein - another very busy and popular route on which to observe and photograph trains. Both parts of this programme were filmed on a Saturday and Sunday in mid-October 2023 and when you see the amount of different freight trains to be seen, you realise just how busy the rail system is in Germany. We begin at the north end of Gremberg Yard with a multitude of locomotive types seen including 152, 185, 186, 187, 189, 192, 193, 248, 296, Class 66 and 1116. Heading to Duisburg we cover four locations on the line south towards Düsseldorf, where classes 1272, 1275, 145, 151, 152, 185, 187, 189, 193, 265, 485, CFL4000 and OBB 1116 are all witnessed working. Finally, we return to Gremberg for Sunday morning observations, which brings 23 freights in just 4 hours, with classes 151, 145, 223, 482, 485, 37000 and 2019 adding to those seen.
