Emma Stone fielded questions on everything from extra-terrestrial life, to fame and shaving her head at the Venice Film Festival press conference Thursday for the new Yorgos Lanthimos film, “Bugonia." The film sees a conspiracy obsessed man (Jesse Plemons) kidnap the head of a pharmaceutical company (Stone) in an attempt to save humanity because he believes she's an alien on a mission to destroy the Earth. When asked if she believes in aliens, Stone joked: "the idea that we’re alone in this vast expansive universe — not that we’re being watched — is a pretty narcissistic thing. So yes I’m coming out and saying it, I believe in aliens!” Stone also commented on how she manages her success and fame without "turning into an alien.” "How do you know I'm not an alien," she said, before adding: "We all can relate to that feeling of someone thinking they know you; feeling like you don’t have much control of the avatar outside of me. Because there’s me, and then there’s me, here. There’s the person who comes here and then there’s the person who I am with my friends and family. They’re the same person, but it’s what I do to keep myself sane.” Lanthimos last had a film at Venice in 2023, when “Poor Things” won the Golden Lion prize.
